I am currently working as a security engineer at NCC Group (formerly iSEC Partners), a computer security consulting firm. Previously, I was a software developer in the Trustworthy Computing group for Microsoft Office. Before that, I was a research associate in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary, working for Dr. Rei Safavi-Naini on intrusion detection systems for wireless sensor networks. Prior to that, I was a graduate student at the U of C; my Master's thesis is titled Enhancing Firewalls: Conveying User and Application Identification to Network Firewalls. I like to hike and play table-top RPGs.

I don't put too much information on this page for the same reason that I don't use Facebook, Linkedin, etc.: I don't like the privacy implications. Google and the NSA already know everything about me, of course, but that's no reason to make it easy for everyone else. This site often goes long periods without maintenance, so expect much of what there is to be out of date.

This site requires a reasonably modern browser. I have better things to do with my time than work around the shortfalls of obsolescent crap like IE 8.
